Performance Notes

× Music of the heavens and hell. Fauré’s setting of paraphrased sacred texts is paired with Bay Area composer Gordon Getty’s cantata, inspired by the canonized Joan of Arc. The work has been performed widely since its 1998 premiere, notably in a 2004 revival in St. George’s Chapel of Windsor Castle. Soprano Lisa Delan has enjoyed international acclaim since performing the title role in the world premiere. The program concludes with Berlioz’s obsessive and hallucinatory masterpiece.
